When it comes to You’re It, parents are one of the most important factors in moving public will to invest in children. As a parent, you have a vested interest in ensuring our community supports children.
By getting involved in this campaign and using your voice, you support the healthy development of your child’s playmates and future classmates. You’re dedication and passion will set the direction for the way Arizona nurtures its youngest children.
Below are some examples of how parents can Be A Voice. Get Involved. Invest in Children.
Be a Voice
- Trust your instincts. If you are unsure about your child’s development or have a concern about his or her health, there are many resources available in our state. Remember, early detection is the key. Don’t hesitate to speak up when it comes to your child’s development.
- Join the You’re It campaign! Register as a You're It Champion and sign up to receive regular eNewsletters.
- Organize a fun activity (a family day, block party, etc.) to raise awareness of the importance of investing in young children.
- Learn more about the government decisions and public policies that impact your family. Learn more and vote according to your conscience.
Get Involved
- Research shows that the years between 0-6 are critical in brain development. Simply reading, playing, talking and singing to your baby is all it takes. For more information, visit www.bornlearning.org.
- Take advantage of the resources in your community. Most public libraries have free programs for children of all ages. Many community centers also offer low-cost activities for children.
- Participate in your local school/parent organization. For contact information, see the Arizona Department of Education website at www.ade.state.az.us.
- Serve as a volunteer at another organization that supports children. Better yet, take your child with you so that they can learn the value of volunteering from a young age.
- Support those who are helping you raise your child. Lend a hand in your child’s preschool and/or ask your child’s teacher what you can do to help. Rally other parents together and have a teacher or caregiver appreciation day.
Invest in Children
- One of the most important things you can do as a parent is to invest your time in learning about your child’s development.
- As your child’s first teacher, you have an opportunity to help them develop a love of learning. Even the youngest of children can benefit from daily exposure to books and print.
- You can help provide disadvantaged children in your area by donating to an organization that supports families in children through health care, education and other social services.
- Make a donation to You’re It to help spread the word and build support for all of Arizona’s children.
